SECURITY RELEASE

Icinga 2 Security Update

A security advisory is out: Icinga 2 v2.16.2, v2.15.4, and v2.14.9 are scheduled for June 29 and will include critical fixes - two of which address vulnerabilities exploitable by unauthenticated attackers over the network. All setups with Masters, Satellites, or Agents are affected. Read the full advisory and upgrade as soon as the releases are available.

UPCOMING WEBINAR

A hands-on session on the OTLPMetricsWriter - the Icinga 2 v2.16 feature that exports check performance data as OpenTelemetry Gauge metrics to any OTLP-compatible backend. We will walk through configuration and integration, including HA cluster zones. Live Q&A at the end.

Hidden Features in Icinga Web 2

Keyboard shortcuts, multi-select bulk actions, URL limit overrides, split-pane views - Icinga Web 2 has a number of built-in features that are easy to miss. This post walks through what's there and how to use it.

Monitoring Docker Containers with Icinga

CPU, memory, health checks, image drift, daemon status - this post covers how to monitor Docker containers with open-source plugins, integrated into your existing Icinga infrastructure monitoring.

Building a Design System with Figma and Claude

Our designer Florian tried to build a design system from scratch using Figma and Claude and documented both what worked and where the limits are. An honest review.

How Git Worktrees Changed Development Workflow

Johannes noticed a "worktree" checkbox appearing in Claude Code and went down the rabbit hole. This post explains what Git worktrees actually are, how they work, and why they are worth adding to your daily workflow.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Catching up with Binero in Stockholm

Our Partner Manager Angelika was at the Stockholm Tech Show and met up with Binero on-site. Binero covers the Nordics for us - local presence, hands-on Icinga experience. Always good to catch up in person.

Team Retreat

Two days, 34 degrees, and a team that couldn't stop looking for loopholes. Last weekend was our team retreat - retro on Friday, trainer-led teambuilding on Saturday, right in the middle of the German heatwave. Our trainer came prepared with three collaborative exercises, less prepared for a group that spent the opening minutes of every task mapping out every workaround - and then solving all three in half the time. His verdict: a bit chaotic at the start, but fast and genuinely supportive of each other. We'll take that:)

COMMUNITY CORNER

Custom Notifications/Messages Survey

How do you use Custom Notifications/Messages in Icinga? Your response will influence how we are going to handle custom notifications in the new component. It is just one question.

Demo Tour

We added guided tours to the demo covering the basic layout, problem handling, and adding a new host. Useful if you want to show Icinga to a colleague or help a new team member find their way around.

Linuxfabrik Monitoring Plugins v6

Heavily improved MySQL/MariaDB plugins with Grafana dashboards, new cert, ups-nut and security scanner (lynis) plugins, a reworked Redfish hardware suite, and expanded rootkit detection (scanrootkit). New documentation site and packages for the latest distros. Full changelog

Wikipedia Help

Our English Wikipedia article could use some community attention. The German version is already well-maintained - the English one is not quite there yet. If you're a Wikipedia editor, we'd appreciate your help filling in the gaps.
